How do I attract birds to a bird house?
I have had a birdhouse out for awhile now and don’t see any results. i have a bird bath, bird-feeder, and a bird nest material supplier. Any ideas on location, and other key attractors?
Not all species of birds use birdhouses – some just make their nest in a tree or on the ground. Those species that do use birdhouses each have their own preferences about the location, size of the house and the size of the entrance hole.
Sometimes you can luck out by putting up any old birdhouse, since some species aren’t as picky, but you will be more likely to successfully have birds use a birdhouse if you first identify what types of birds you have in your neighborhood and then put up a house that is likely to fulfill the preferences of one or more of those species.
