Art Commissions
Are you looking for custom made art? If so, I’d be happy to talk with you about what kind of painting you’re looking for. When you book a consultation, we decide on the details together (size, colors, subject, timeline, budget) before I start painting. Commissions take more time, planning, and thought to bring your bespoke vision to life, and therefore are more expensive than paintings that are already in my shop, but you’re able to get a painting that fits perfectly in your home or office space.
You can also commission artwork that’s inspired by art I’ve already created. The new painting is not an identical copy, but is inspired by the original piece. Whether it’s a piece that already sold, art on paper that you’d like on stretched canvas, a small painting that you’d like a large version of, or an animal that you’d like to have look more like your pet, but still in my style (examples: white paws on a black cat, an orange cat instead of a calico, or a fluffy, long-haired cat instead of a shorthair cat, etc.), we can work together to make the painting you want. How do commissions work?
Commissions require a non-refundable deposit of 50% upfront, and painting starts only after the payment has been made. The final amount is due when the painting is completed. After the final payment has been received, the artist ships the painting to the buyer. I also offer payment plans with Afterpay. Please bring up payment plans when we have the initial discussion if you’d like that option.
I only take on a limited number of commissions per month, and commissions are available on a first come, first serve basis based on my schedule. If you want a painting for a birthday or other special occasion, or in time for the holidays, it’s best to book early. Paintings need to be completed, then completely dry before varnishing, then dry again before shipping. It’s not a speedy process. If it’s a rush job due to an event or occasion, there’s a rush fee. I will do my best to fit your project into the schedule, if there’s still time to complete painting, varnishing, and drying the artwork before shipping.
Commissions generally take from 4-6 weeks from the start of painting to shipping to customer. Please note that it is not from the date the contract is signed, but from the date on the schedule when I can start painting.
Paintings that are very large ship rolled and will need to be re-stretched by a professional framer, paid for by the customer. Frame shops in your area should be able to give you a quote on re-stretching art on canvas, if needed.
